PAUL O'BRIEN

DIRECTOR

Paul O’Brien has over 25 years’ project management and commercial advisory experience in both the public and private sectors.  Paul’s core skill is assessing the technical and commercial feasibility of a proposed investment.  Paul’s industry experience includes Property, Road, Rail, IT, Mining, and social services projects.  Paul has provided business strategies, commercial advice and implementation planning for many government programs in excess of $100 million and several transport and property projects in excess of $1 billion.

CARL GRIFFIN

DIRECTOR

Carl Griffin is an experienced management consultant and leader of Solute with over 20 years’ experience. Over the past 10 years Carl has focused his efforts on assisting clients make the right investment decisions. Under Carl’s leadership, his team at Solute have completed 100s of business case assignments and undertaken numerous procurement activities. Carl has expert knowledge in all parts of an investment decision, including financial and economic/benefits appraisal/modelling, risk analysis including the use of Monte Carlo simulations, options identification and analysis, funding analysis and delivery analysis. This knowledge has been applied to business cases and procurement assignments in the fields of ICT, health, transport, education, housing, social services and resources. As an experienced facilitator and communicator, Carl assists organisations to unpack, analyse, present and communicate the right investment decisions.

ANTHONY DUNN

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Anthony Dunn has over 10 years’ experience delivering preliminary evaluations and business cases on complex infrastructure projects. In working with government and the private sector he has developed a thorough understanding and practical knowledge of all stages of the project lifecycle from strategic need assessments and business cases through to transactions, contract management and benefits realisation. Anthony brings experience from across various jurisdictions in Australia as well recent experience from working with HM Treasury's Five Case methodology in the UK.

FIONA OWEN

SENIOR CONSULTANT

Fiona Owen is a Chartered Accountant with financial modelling, budgeting, auditing, analyst, and contract management experience for large asset based ASX listed entities, global subsidiaries, government and not for profit entities. Fiona’s core skills include complex financial modelling involving preparation of long term forecasts to assess project feasibility, scenario analysis, economic and financial net present valuations and cost benefit analysis. She has also developed tools to assist clients manage their operations and improve reporting of key information.

DARRYL O'CALLAGHAN

SENIOR CONSULTANT

Darryl has over twenty-five years’ experience and has held several senior management positions for both national and multi-national IT companies. Darryl has a significant breadth and depth of experience working for both vendors and customers across various market sectors including mining, retail, banking and government. Darryl has been responsible for business case and scope development and the associated procurement activities including sourcing, negotiating and establishment of multi-million dollar ICT contracts for critical systems.

SAM McMURCHIE 

SENIOR CONSULTANT

Sam McMurchie has a substantial background in IT management, procurement, project leadership and the development of IT solutions. He has a diverse range of skills including business analysis, project management, strategic and operational planning and management and financial management. Additionally Sam has broad IT experience of both IT infrastructure and applications covering a large number of business sectors including retail, finance, agribusiness, government and web based solutions.

HELEN O'BRIEN

SENIOR CONSULTANT

Helen O’Brien is a Senior Consultant with 20+ years’ experience in economic and data analysis. Helen's core skills are labour market economics and demand modelling. Helen's previous roles include business case documentation, GIS modelling and financial/economic analysis. Helen is the lead data analyst for Solute's workforce and infrastructure planning service.
