Portfolio Selection
Portfolio selection is the process of choosing the combination of projects and business as usual activities that best contribute to achieving an organisation's objectives. The Solute business case provides the key project information in the portfolio selection process. The Solute portfolio selection template is used to compare and evaluate the projects.
The metrics above provide organisations with the ability to make more informed project selections and adjust the project mix to respond to changing needs.
Project Health Checks
Solute has methodology compliance Health Checks for Prince2, MSP and PMBOK projects as well as our own Solute Project Health Check which combines elements from each of the above and a range of practical assessments developed from our own experience.
A Solute Health Check typically includes:
- An independent evaluation of a project or program
- A thorough assessment of risks and development of mitigation strategies
- Root cause analysis of project and program issues
- Project or program benchmarking, relative to similar projects
- Practical recommendations for improvement
Project Accounting
Project accounting is an integral part of monitoring and controlling a project. Solute offers project accounting on a consulting or managed service basis (i.e. outsourced). This service begins at project commencement and typically includes the project manager and a specialist project accountant using the business case financial data to form the project budget. Each month actual costs are collated and compared to the budget with any variances highlighted to project management. The table and graph below provide an example of a project accounting summary report.
